What are AC Electrical Protections?
The AC Protections collection includes circuit breakers, residual current devices, and surge arresters for the alternating current side of a PV system (inverter output, branch circuits, and main distribution).
Advantages and limitations
- Personal safety through appropriate residual current devices.
- Equipment protection against overloads, short circuits, and overvoltages.
- Limitation: select the appropriate tripping curve, rating, sensitivity, and breaking capacity for the installation.
Applications
- Grid-tied self-consumption and hybrid systems.
- Protection of branch circuits to critical loads.
How to choose
- Rate circuit breakers by In and curve (B/C/D) according to load type.
- Select residual current devices AC/A/F/B according to the inverter and present harmonics.
- Coordinate SPD with the grid and location (type II in secondary panel, I+II at main distribution when applicable).
Specifications (indicative)
| ICU/ICN | Breaking capacity according to grid |
| Residual current devices | AC/A/F/B and mA sensitivity |
| SPD | Type II/III, suitable Uc and Imax |
| Installation | DIN mounting in distribution boards |
