What is Small Wind Energy?
The Wind Energy collection brings together wind turbines of low and medium power and their associated electronics, designed for self-consumption, hybrid systems, and off-grid applications. Wind production complements solar by providing energy at night and on days with low irradiation.
Advantages and Limitations
- Ideal complement to photovoltaics in windy climates.
- Possibility of direct battery charging or grid connection via inverter.
- Limitations: requires sufficient wind resource, site study, and local permits.
Applications
- Rural homes, farms, and shelters.
- Hybrid solar-wind systems with batteries.
How to Choose
- Evaluate average wind speed and terrain roughness.
- Select generator power and mast height.
- Integrate suitable controllers/inverters and accessories.
