What is a Domestic Wind Turbine?
A small-scale wind turbine is a turbine installed on a mast that produces electrical energy from the wind. It can charge batteries at 12/24/48 V or supply energy to a grid-tied/off-grid inverter within hybrid systems.
Advantages and Limitations
- Nocturnal generation and seasonal complement to solar.
- High availability with a good wind regime.
- Limitations: requires a site study, safety distances, and compliance with local regulations.
Applications
- Homes and rural operations with wind resources.
- Remote stations and telecommunications in off-grid.
How to Choose
- Define annual average wind speed and turbulence class.
- Select rotor power, diameter, and mast height.
- Integrate compatible controller, brake, and mast.
