What are stationary batteries?
Stationary batteries are accumulators designed to operate at deep cycle for years, maintaining a high usable capacity and a low self-discharge rate. In solar systems, they are configured with 2 V elements connected in series to reach 12/24/48 V, thus sizing the bank to the real needs of the installation.
Why choose stationary batteries
- Long service life: designed for thousands of cycles in daily use.
- High robustness: tubular plate technology that withstands repeated deep discharges.
- True modularity: configuration with 2 V elements to adjust voltage and capacity.
- Stability: excellent performance in continuous residential and industrial applications.
Available families
- OPzS: stationary 2 V elements with liquid electrolyte (open lead-acid). Require periodic maintenance (level check) and a ventilated location. Offer very high durability and great tolerance to deep discharges.
- TOPzS: stationary tubular 2 V range. Maintains the advantages of tubular design and is oriented towards deep cycles and reliability in solar installations. Check each model’s datasheet for maintenance requirements and charging parameters.
Typical applications
- Homes in off-grid self-consumption with daily use.
- Small businesses and processes that require constant energy.
- Telecommunications, pumping, and backup systems with continuous use.
Key specifications to consider
| Format | 2 V elements connected in series (12/24/48 V) |
| Technology | Tubular plates (OPzS / TOPzS series) |
| Life cycle | Very high (model-dependent and according to DoD) |
| Maintenance | OPzS: required; TOPzS: according to model |
| Location | Ventilated indoor, accessible for inspections |
Sizing and installation tips
- Calculate the usable capacity required (kWh) based on consumption and days of autonomy.
- Define the target depth of discharge (DoD) to extend service life.
- Adjust the charging profile of the controller/inverter to OPzS or TOPzS as appropriate.
- Ensure ventilation and accessibility for inspection tasks (especially for OPzS).
If your project requires maximum durability and stability in daily use, stationary batteries are the most reliable choice. Explore our OPzS and TOPzS to configure the perfect bank for your installation.
